Hello, Darling!

I’m Evan Roberts…. artist, audio producer, archivist, filmmaker, event organizer, educator and eclipse chaser.

Don’t Be Precious, Darling is where you’ll find my stories, instructional series, personal overshares, works in progress, mixed-media essays, interviews with people I’m curious about, and short-form Q&As.

A real testimonial!

Here’s what I’m working on in 2024:

Last year, two acquaintances came to me - separately - and asked if I’d read ‘The Art of Gathering’ by Priya Parker. “You already do the things she talks about in the book” they said - so I bought a copy. Reading it has inspired me to share my creative ideas for Games, Gifts and Gatherings.

I’ll have posts about the various storytelling games I’ve created over the years and how to play them; creative ways to gathering that use floor plans, Google Earth, or customized shoes; unique ways to celebrate a friend; and special gifts I’ve made and how you can make them, too.

Here are other projects I’m currently working on:

6x6: Portland - a multi-media project that illustrates how a community of people are connected, and how their stories progressed over twenty years.

All My Exes - a multi-media project that explores my relationship to be in relationships.

Stories about a soul being sold on eBay, the middle school letters from an old friend who turned into an American monster, stories from my parents, from the archive, and Messages from the Future!

Send me a note. I’d love to hear from you.
